ImageTerm 3 was steady as she goes with 23 guests from country Victoria, NSW and SA.  With just four resis we received much appreciated help from our old stalwarts Glenis in the daytime and Jenni, Evan and Ellen (the damper queen), with a new face for term 4, Caitlin.  To me it feels like we are increasingly able to play the ‘You come from Orbost, this person lives down that way’ game (although Sarah was always good at it, the rest of us might be catching up!)  We enjoyed having Vince Ross’s cousins staying with us for a couple of nights, and Matt caught up with a woman he met in Lake Condah with About FACE a few years ago.  We glimpse the complexity of many guests’ lives, from involvement in land claims, to sleeping in a car with a two year old while trying to find accommodation in Melbourne.

ImageIn resi news, Anthony has joined us for a quiet start to term 4.   Dave and former resident Jess with our neighbour Jason and Dave’s friend Angus hit the bicycles for Around the Bay in a Day (210k!) which was ‘glorious’ for the first part and ‘challenging’ for the second!  And in the lead up to the election as we’re trying to wade through the policies of various parties on Indigenous issues, I have put a ‘close the gap’ mural up on our front fence to invite consideration.
